Vinyl

Growing up in the ‘70s, music was a constant in my house.  My Dad always had his Count Basie or Wes Montgomery playing during the evening or on the weekends.  Little did he know he was creating an audiophile.  As a kid, I followed in my Dad’s footsteps and began buying my own music and creating my own vinyl collection of classic R&B, funk and yes, disco.  Vinyl advanced to cassettes and cassettes became CDs.  In 1989 I purchased my first CD player.  My girlfriend at the time gave me my first CD, Marvin Gaye’s Greatest Hits.  When I played “I Want You,” a whole new sound experience was revealed to me.  The depth and quality of sound was amazing.  I was hooked on this new technology.  Or at least I thought so.

Well, CDs advanced to MP3s which took the sound quality to entirely different level not to mention make music completely portable.  While I have hundreds of CDs and thousands of MP3s, I’ve kept all my vinyl LPs and 45s I purchased back in the ‘70s.  When I moved to Atlanta in 1999, I purchased a turntable for my Sony rack system.   Now, 40 years later, I’ve come full circle as I play those old vinyl R&B LPs & 45s all the time.  There’s something about that sounds which adds greater texture and feeling to the song.  I guess I’m not alone.  A recent Nielsen’s Music report notes that 2015 represents the tenth straight year of growth for vinyl records increasing 30% over 2014.  This is while digital track and CD sales declined 12.5% and 6% respectively.  One of the industry experts attribute this increase to a younger generation discovering vinyl.

Whatever the reason, I’m glad that vinyl is back.

T-shirt Info & Size Chart

The T-shirt

The t-shirt we use to print the designs is from a company call Next Level Apparel.  They make some of the best t-shirts in the apparel biz.  Our base t-shirt is their premium tri-blend crew neck t-shirt.   This t-shirt is a mashup of 50% polyester, 25% combed ring spun and 25% rayon.  That mix makes for three things:  an extremely soft t-shirt that drapes nicely with a vintage-type look.   So you’re getting a cool looking shirt that feels great.  The t-shirt weighs 4.3 ounces.  So you’re not wearing a bulletproof vest but a mid-weight garment.  And since the fabric is mostly polyester and rayon, there is little, if any, shrinkage.  Now the t-shirt does run a little small so if you like a roomer fit, please select the next size above what you normally wear.

Also, we don’t believe in offering you a one-style-fits-all or “unisex” t-shirt (whatever that is).  We give the fellas and ladies a t-shirt that’s specifically made for them and their unique features.  If a particular style of t-shirt isn’t available for a gender then we’ll let you know and recommend a size in that shirt that may accommodate you.

In the future, we’ll rollout different styles of tees like a scoop neck (for that off-the-shoulder Flashdance look), long sleeve, hoody and ¾ sleeve raglan so you’ll have a variety of options to choose from year round.

Care Instructions

We recommend turning your t-shirt inside out when washing.  Please machine wash in cold water with like colors.  It’s best to hang dry but it’s cool if you tumble dry on low setting.  Please do not iron on the decoration.
